Moab, UT is a green oasis in a desert of rocks. It sits on the Colorado River and is the starting point for exploring Arches and Canyonlands. We spent the night at Riverside RV camp on the banks of the Colorado. Do not go by GPS directions! The address that Garmin has in its RV campsite database is incorrect. We kept driving in circles trying to find this location. Finally after four phone calls to the receptionist at Riverside RV we arrived. After driving through the desert all these beautify green trees, flowing Colorado River and flowers were welcome.

Three hours before sunset we drove to Arches National Park (just two miles from where we camped) and were spellbound by big red rocks, and remarked on the subtle beauty of how light and shadow changes the landscape. Jim took several photographs after sunset. He loves the soft warm colors, he calls it his magic light, and it was tremendous. The scenic drive through Arches National Park is spectacular! If you get a chance GO!

Our last fill-up gave us 8.69 mpg. Considering we ran the generator most of the day, were stopped for 15 minutes on the mountain top for construction on two separate occasions and pulling the car through mountain ranges that was not so bad.

Today we are on the road to Salt Lake City, UT. We will spend the weekend with our daughter and grandchildren then leave out on Monday for Mt. Rushmore hoping to arrive by July 4th.
